Who are your biggest musical influences?
During my life, I have been exposed to a variety of different styles and I think I have taken them all in. My grandparents introduced me to people like “The Rat Pack” and “Glen Miller”, and my parents “Elton John”, “The Beatles”, “Neil Diamond”, “Eric Clapton”, “Queen” and all different types of musicals.

I started listening to all manner of music. I grew up on 90s Brit Pop like “The Spice Girls” and then pop/rnb, pop/rock and country music “Brad Paisley”. So I suppose I’m influenced by any music that is good music.

What inspired you to write your latest album/song?
“Last Dance in the Rain” was the idea of my co-writer and producer Paddy O’Grady and the song is about memory-affected illnesses such as dementia and the struggles that it brings to family, friends and carers.

The hope is that when they are not the same person that we remember, they are happy in their minds and perhaps they are “dancing in the rain”.

What message do you hope to convey through your music?
I love telling a story and I want, like most musicians, for people to be able to relate to the story. Whether it be the loss, love or being inspired to have fun and be yourself. Music is a powerful thing.

What was the most challenging aspect of recording your latest album?
It’s difficult to say I think creating a balance between the instrumentals and the vocals so that it all resonated and we didn’t lose any of the emotions behind it. We also had a lot of thoughts we had to condense down into 4 minutes.

What has been your favourite moment or experience as a musician so far?
I think it was the moment I realized that there are several stages to performing. The fact that you love doing it, the fact it makes other people like watching you and that knowing you are making people happy returns to you and makes the experience even more immense.

How do you balance your personal life with your music career?
A mentor I have helped me organize the way I work. It has made me more productive with my music and allows me to switch off, relax and enjoy the time I have with family and friends.

How do you handle negative criticism or feedback on your music?
We all know music is subjective, not that it still doesn’t sting if you get a negative comment but for every bad comment there are many more good comments. Some you can take on board and use in the future, and some you just have to shake off.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians trying to make it in the industry?
I’d say that if you want to do it then be brave and step out there. No matter how big or small it becomes. Just know that the music is only part of it. There is a lot of other work and you also need to be prepared to do that.

Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you’re excited about?
Of course! I am working on more music for this year, songs that mean a lot to me, but of course, you’ll have to follow and see.

Do you have any plans to branch out into other genres or styles of music?
I would really like to make more upbeat dance music. I am really influenced by artists with similar styles to me and have been able to mix that with other styles
