Toby Pearce, a newcomer to the scene from the UK’s thriving rock scene, has been making waves with his compelling combination of genuine passion and explosive musicianship.
Pearce’s current album “Another Day” is a tribute to his brilliance, with songs that expertly balance the personal and the epic.
A melodic celebration of life and vitality, “Another Day” reflects Pearce’s transformation from attorney to musician.
Pearce’s stunning vocal rendition is the song’s most memorable element. His voice soars over the whole soundscape with a feeling of unconstrained freedom that is contagious as he sings with raw, uncontrolled enthusiasm. Lyrics saturated with his own feelings and experiences, they give a realistic picture of his life.
“Another Day” is more than simply a song; it’s a story that Pearce wrote based on his own life. Ten years ago, Pearce has been a lawyer for the past 10 years who eventually sought help in counselling due to personal reasons.
A lifelong interest in music that he thought he should have explored sooner was the ‘itch’ he couldn’t scratch. He risked his established schedule, his social life, and the possibility of negative feedback in order to devote himself entirely to his music.
However, the payoff for this risk was substantial. Since making the transition to music, Pearce has been progressively rising to prominence, his distinctive sound and captivating performances cementing his position as a major figure in today’s rock music.
The song “Another Day” is a joyous ode to life, independence, and following one’s heart. It’s evidence of Pearce’s maturity as a musician and his dedication to making music that speaks to people on a deep and emotional level.
What drew you to music production in the first place?
Some sort of compulsive order or disorder! It is my way to express my inner world and is a lifelong passion to write and produce songs. What’s changed is now I am actually releasing the songs and playing live rather than “singing alone”.
What or whom do you go to for inspiration or motivation?
I have a huge inbuilt energy so motivation is not an issue. Inspiration comes from everyday life, my past, my therapy, my dreams and great artists, songs and performances. Inspiration is ever-changing.
This week I am enjoying PJ Harvey’s new release and “analyzing” Ed Sheeran’s “-“, and reminded of Katy Perry’s incredible vocal depth in her Coronation performance, and I have the fun of choosing my next 30 years of covers (year 21) to perform live on my Instagram.
What are some of the obstacles you encounter in your career?
The biggest obstacle has been me! It took years of therapy to understand why I was successful in my day job but miserable.
It is because I was not also following my passion which is music. But to be honest it has not been easy to integrate it into my world and the expectations of others. Once I took this seriously enough to step out there were many obstacles but all just need hard work to overcome, like anything else in life if you want to be successful.
But the main thing was I had to get good at life which meant playing pubs after work and at the weekends whenever I could fit this in with other commitments (work, family). But in the process, I discovered things I didn’t know about what I am as an artist and got a lot of validation and useful feedback from the toughest of audiences.
What distinguishes you as a creative individual?
There are two things that I think are important to be a real artist – great vocals and songs that are from the heart. I always had the second one, the surprise is that I might just have the first one too. We’ll see!
What’s the significance of the current song or album in your life?
My first album and song releases are all about following your passion and being truly alive, and it is never too late.
Another Day as a Love song might seem like an outlier to this theme but if you make a big positive change in your life it is important to remember the things and the people that you love and count on every day, and that’s Another Day’s message.
What are you working on at the moment?
Live live live. Just getting as many live gigs as I can.
What are your plans for the year ahead?
Release the album, then quickly the follow-up album. Find my triggering track which I have no control over! Most important to convert the positive comments at my live performance and online to a following – at the end of the day I need to sell tickets to be successful!
Pearce is a rising star, and “Another Day” is a thrilling introduction to his musical universe, one that will keep fans on their toes as they wait with bated breath for what he will provide next.
