Cinematic composer and guitarist NOR.BE has shared his electrifying new instrumental single, “Once.” Arriving ahead of his forthcoming debut album, “A Dream Come True,” the track enlists the NOR.BE Collective his fluid roster of international collaborators to stage an ambitious collision of progressive rock, jazz fusion, and avant-garde orchestration.
The piece follows the volatile emotional topography of remembering someone. Rather than treating memory as an orderly archive, “Once” treats it like an immense, ancient creature evoking the surreal vision of whales drifting across desert sands that breaches only when it decides to surface. It opens quietly and contemplatively before detonating into a frantic, syncopated sprint. Jagged lead lines and erratic pitch leaps twist through complex dissonances, creating an atmosphere taut with suspense and kinetic chaos.

Just as the euphoric peak threatens to spiral out of reach, the music drops into sudden silence, ultimately resolving into a peaceful, restorative walk through a rose garden. When the past resurfaces with such sudden, dizzying force, can we ever truly anticipate where it will leave us?
