Jesswar Releases ‘Waves’ From Their Astonishing LP

Jesswar is a Fijian-Australian rapper who was born and raised in South East Queensland. He is now located in Brisbane.

Jesswar spent part of his childhood in Fiji and half of it on the Gold Coast in Queensland. He was born in Canberra.

They left their parents’ house when they were 16 years old and began their musical education at TAFE Queensland, continuing on to study at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

Jesswar and several of his fellow classmates established the pop-rap band Sneeky Picnic the following year (2012).

The first song by Jesswar, titled “Savage,” was published in 2017, and was then followed by the release of the debut EP Tropixx in 2021. During that year, Jesswar was a winner at both the APRA Professional Development Awards and the Queensland Music Awards.

In 2013, Jesswar joined forces with fellow Fijian rapper Lane-Harry to create the duo Jesswar & Lane-Harry. Together, they recorded an EP that debuted in the top 20 hip hop rankings on iTunes.

Jesswar is a part of a new movement of different Australian artists that encourages independence and celebrates

community. Jesswar is determined to use her position to advocate for and promote the interests of other women of color.

“Waves” is the most recent tune to be extracted from “LIFE’S SHORT, LIVE BIG” the group’s first mixtape, which was just unveiled.
