Could you tell us about the creative process behind “This World You’re Living In”?
I wrote the song a number of years ago as an acoustic ballad, and when I was wanting to release it for the first time I thought it was a great place to start. Although it was written for a more soft approach I wanted to flip it on its head and express who I want to be as an artist and created an Oxymoron with the lyrics predominantly sad and the music almost euphoric.

What inspired you to create “This World You’re Living In”?
Unrequited love inspired the words and also the hopeless romantic in me holding onto the hope I would meet the actual one. I listened to the song ‘Somebody Else’ by The 1975 and it just struck me how sad the words are but the song is just an overall tune. It made me stop and think and then really listen and that’s what I wanted to do.

You’ve undoubtedly developed a unique sound and style to fit into your musical journey, how does it showcase your growth and artistic evolution?
Thank you, I love listening to acoustic music; how it’s stripped back and you can really get the heart of the writing, so I always believed my music would just be acoustic-based.

As I’ve expanded my listening I realised I can experiment out of my comfort zone and then just release acoustic versions if I want to and having the confidence to do that is definitely where I have grown the most.

Can you share the underlying message or theme that you wanted to convey through “This World You’re Living In”?
I wanted to tell the story and go through the motions of the feelings within the song; hope, hurt and acceptance. I wanted the song to be there for the listener no matter where you’re at in the process of getting over someone.

Technology has transformed music consumption and sharing. How do you adapt and use digital channels to reach global audiences?
Embracing TikTok has been a challenge, I’ve never really been in front of a camera and I felt really unsure but eventually, I got used to it and am actually quite enjoying editing videos and connecting with people online.

Can you give us a glimpse into what the future holds for your music?
I want to explore the more alternative side of Alt-Pop and really develop my sound as an artist. I’m currently working on my next single and I can’t wait to get it out and expand on the content and visuals I can offer with it.

Do you have any advice for aspiring songwriters?
Just do it. You can spend forever overthinking things but if you really like your music, chances are someone else is as well. Don’t waste your time because at the very least you have achieved something you can be proud of that you enjoy!
