Pete Brock, Ted Pepper, and Sydd Spudd the self-dubbed aristocrats of punk thrive in the deep end of the human psyche here. Underneath the bouncy synth-punk dissonance lies a rather terrifying autopsy of blind trust and toxic relationships. You feel the sharp regret of opening up to someone’s deceptive charm, only to discover their feral, predatory nature waiting beneath the surface.
Yet, the song also points a crooked finger inward. It confronts the ugly damage we inflict on each other while just trying to find some flawed version of intimacy. The resulting atmosphere is urgent, rebellious, and wonderfully eerie.
