What inspired you to create “Hope + Fury”?
The drive was the need to get this music out of myself. After a lifetime of development in my music skills I was keen to create a body of work that I feel represented me. After a long time of thinking that this needs to be done. Having children also inspired me to live my dreams. I don’t want them to look at me and think Daddy didn’t live his dreams. They are the ‘Hope’ in the title.

You’ve undoubtedly developed a unique sound and style to fit into your musical journey, how does it showcase your growth and artistic evolution?
Over the years I have explored many avenues in music – DJing, producing and playing a few instruments like the Tuba, Piano and guitar… These experiences have helped to shape a diverse interest in terms of genres and styles. It has been hard to combine these different directions throughout the album.

I wanted to explore more of my singing in this album after spending time building a rep as a rapper primarily. I deep down wanted to prove to myself that I can make work I am 100% proud of.

This is a major step in my development as it has helped me to feel confident in expressing myself with my lyrics and range of genres. I feel quite free as an artist after making the album. I am already looking forward to my next project.

Can you share the underlying message or theme that you wanted to convey through “Hope + Fury”?
The main themes are Love, Society and Self-Empowerment. Main songs sound like romantic love but really have a narrative of conflict in society and the ability to bounce over hurdles and challenges in love and life.

Many songs touch on racism don’t I didn’t want to make these too obvious – also as an underlying conflict. Why You Wake Me is an example of what sounds like a love song is really a song about micro-management and control from people who should be there to support you.

What are You Looking At? Is almost a response to this song – Self-Empowerment is a must and the only way to break through the walls. The mix of nihilism and optimism are the sometimes conflicting themes running through the songs.

How do you envision “Hope + Fury” resonating with your audience, and what impact do you hope it will have on listeners as this has the potential to become a fan-favourite?
Thank you and hope it resonates – I have already had some nice feedback from internet folk who have made an effort to contact me with some positive feedback – Mainly they say it is accessible, which is a good thing.

I feel glad that people have felt emotion in the music and lyrics – Price gets these especially. I hope the album inspires people to create and express their emotions. I like that there are many different genres as this shows that you don’t have to pin yourself down and can let the music flow.

Do you have any exciting plans or projects in the pipeline? Can you give us a glimpse into what the future holds for your music?
In the pipeline is practice and writing – trying to get a bit better with guitar skills and taking singing lessons to help improve further – Exploration and skill development is needed for the next project and step – Much of my time is thinking about future sounds, approach and lyrical themes. At the moment I am enjoying listening to the music of others to help me inspire. But watch this space.

How do you navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with being an artist in today’s competitive landscape?
Many challenges and opportunities… The great thing is we all have the opportunity to access an audience in a once-closed market. I have met so many people and networks online to help, encourage and support my music. Online distribution has changed the game and music can be consumed worldwide – the diverse range of listeners is surprisingly amazing.

The downside is the high level of competition, and not all of it fair, with many artists affiliated with closed networks and majors. The industry has many lifers who will gate-keep the gates of success. Money is also an issue as quality should be paid but you must also pay for quality. Got to be optimistic and keep creating some art.

Are there any other musical genres or styles that you are interested in exploring in your future releases?
I’m open to anything really – I want to explore and create and will try to follow the creative process with honesty and passion.
